What A Blooming Great Gift!

What A Blooming Great Gift!

Spring is here, and it’s time to plan the flower garden, both the seeds and the blooming plants. So, off I went to the nursery, arriving back home in the rain with those blooming plants. Knowing it was raining, I decided it was kind of fun to be in the blooming rain. Besides, it was a warm rain and the sun was trying to peak through, and those blooming plants needed to get into the pots. My cats sat on the porch and watched, seeming to wonder why they had sense enough to come in out of the rain, while their “cat mom’s” judgment seemed to be questionable. As I popped the plants out of their pots, I realized they were root bound and badly needed water. After scraping the mud off the gardening tools, I pealed off my wet shoes and socks, and hung up with the gloves to dry, I looked back at the flowers. No longer in root bound pots and needing a drink, they were free to their blooming and ready to share their beauty, the joy of life.

I think in part that is what the scripture is about. Being root bound, trapped in the struggles and mistakes of life, we find ourselves with no place to go. It is as we are set free in love and grace that we are able to bloom in the joy and hope of God’s love. That is a blooming great gift.

Blessings,
