This morning at 6 a.m. I came to a very important realization, I need a new alarm clock. This one keep’s waking me up. Yes, I had set it for 6, but really didn’t mean it, and it was still dark outside, and . . . . So, I rolled back over and closed my eyes. But the snooze alarm whenoff. That does it, its time to get a new clock.
I think that in part, that is what the scripture is about. People have always wanted to simply close their eyes and turn their backs on the needs and cares of others. This is not new, and it certainly is not unique to this day and age. But God calls each generation and each individual to open their eyes to the light and truth of the world, that we might live in the power, hope and love that God has for us. Yes, we have tried to simply snooze our way through life, but the alarming fact is that we miss the power God has given us. It’s getting light outside, time to get into this wonderful day.
