The kittens, Dalai and Carmel, often bring me presents in the form of dead mice, little birds that are terrified, and chipmunks – that are normally catch and release. Dalai had a really young bird in this mouth, I thank him for it, and realizing it was still very much alive. Gingerly, I picked it up and took it outside to a tree branch. Its little eyes were dazed as if to say, “ what just happened to me?” I sat him up high enough he could safely come back to himself, and find his wings again. Somewhere outside in bird land, there is a baby sparrow with a wild tale to tell.
I think that is in part, what this scripture is about. There are moments in life when we find ourselves dazed and in real trouble. God’s plan is not for us to stay trapped and lose our lives, but rather to find hope and a future. The problem is that we often give up or think we can get out by ourselves, we can’t. God is there if only we call on him. God’s plan is for us to have a life where we prosper, have hope and a future of joy and promise. God wants us to have wings, and a great story to tell.
