Don’t Be Alarmed

Don’t Be Alarmed

The watch is not keeping time. I’m not sure if it is the battery or part of the mechanism, but it just is not working the way it should. The time is always wrong and it has an alarm, that goes off at odd intervals. At least if it was completely stopped, it would be right twice a day. Now, it is always wrong. I think I have a few choices: get it fixed, get a new one, stop wearing a watch or learn to be okay at being alarmed over the wrong things. I really like the watch. It is pretty, fits my wrist just right, have a great excuse for being late, and I get the privilege of being alarmed by the wrong things.

I think in part, that is what the scripture is about. On the day Jesus raised from the dead, His disciples were in hiding.Terrified they had been wrong to follow Jesus, afraid of the future, and alarmed that the Roman soldiers were about to arrest and crucify them too. Only after they experienced the risen Jesus did they have faith, and were able and excited to go into the future. “Don’t be alarmed,” Jesus is alive and loves you.

Blessings and Happy Easter!
