A Different Way of Thinking About Change

A Different Way of Thinking About Change

At the bank the other day, I was getting some cash for a trip. The teller asked me what denomination, and I said “United Methodist.” She didn’t think it was funny either. Cash is almost an obsolete item. Some stores and event centers will only take credit cards. Two reasons: less loss from theft and making the wrong change, and it is easier for the vendors to track sales. The art of making change, and determining the sum is almost a lost art. It has become about the computer and the card. Its no wonder that the concept of “The Golden Rule”, (do unto others have you would have them do unto you), has become “He who has the gold makes the rules.” A whole different way of thinking about change and the sum of life. Jesus did a lot of summing up in His teaching: “For God so love the world. . ..,” “Do unto other. . . …” and my favorite “Forgiven them father for they don’t know what they are doing.” Yeah, I guess that pretty much sums it up. I need to go look at the cash the teller gave me. I sure hope the bills have Andrew Jackson’s face on them, and not John Wesley’s.
